It sounds like a different approach for primary care: a doctor charges a fee for different levels of service. One gets you in—and by “in,” you’re going to get a personalized level of care that isn’t common—and a second level gets you even more access to the doctor’s services. Members.MD, whose “concierge” model was roughly explained on the state page of today’s paper, uses $2,500 and $4,000 as those points.

Norfolk is throwing its hat into the ring to land Google’s experimental fiber-optic network.

But don’t expect the city to rename itself Google, Nebraska. Or for the city’s firstborn children to be named Google Fiber and Googlette Fiber.

Those ideas are already taken.

Perhaps small town life isn’t for everyone—the “cultures” of small towns and large cities are different. People have their places, and many times it is as simple as that. But, if nothing else, those differences—whether real of perceived—should serve as an example of why some divisions are not easily reconciled.

On page 21 of today’s paper, there is a story about a Florida family—Jeanette and Michael Tristani—that moved from Miami to North Dakota because of the benefits of living in a small town. Hazelton, ND offered an escape from the “crime, traffic, hurricanes, and the high cost of living in Florida…” But the couple is trying to move back to Miami because small town life is too cliquey.
