Take this job and shove it

07/11/08 | by Carrie Pitzer - NDN Online Editor | Categories: Carrie Pitzer

Have you ever bit your tongue while talking to your boss?

You wanted to say it, but you knew the consequences weren’t worth it.

Well, your day is coming and soon because Wednesday, July 23, is . . .

More:

Insult Your Boss Day.

Yep, there’s even an official day. Call it a holiday if you will.

This year marks the first one, so don’t worry. You didn’t miss it last year.

Lady Arabella Snark — author of The Perfect Insult for Every Occasion — is serving as honorary chair of Insult Your Boss Day.

She has even provided a factsheet to assist you with all of your questions.

When is Insult Your Boss Day?

Insult Your Boss Day (IYBD) 2008 will take place on Wednesday, July 23.

Who should participate?

Everyone except for bosses. If you’re self-employed, use a mirror.

How can I avoid getting fired?

You could insult your boss anonymously.

Are there any special events happening?

Yes. At 2 p.m. on International Insult Your Boss Day, all workers should insult their bosses simultaneously, followed by a communal drink at the nearest bar. You might want to make sure your coworkers are planning to do this before you commit to it. Like senior skip day in high school, it only works if everyone participates.

Will Carrie Pitzer be participating?
Only if I have permission from my boss. He’s a kind-hearted fellow who laughs at a good joke, so, in that regard, he would probably be OK with some friendly jabbing.

Just FYI, if you haven’t seen your boss smile in the last 365 days, you may want to wait until next year to participate. Insult at your own risk!
